Is Tattoo Bruising and Swelling Normal-Why are the tattoo bruising complaints common?
Hi,i had a tatto about six monnths ago by a lets say a”cowboy” tattooist (his line work leaves a lot to be desired) its an egyptian ankh on my wrist. The problem was some of the line work was crooked and un-straight,so yesterday i went to a reputable tattooists this time to correct the problem. He straightened all the line work out and has re-done the colour work (plain black but had faded quick)it took about half an hour.Today the tat is still swollen and has bruising around the top (green bruising not on the tattoo but around it)it didnt bruise when i had it done by the idiot tattooist the first time,is this normal for bruising to appear this early? And please dont post messages telling me i shouldt have had it done!!!freedom of speech and al, but each to your own tattooing is my choice!!!p.s i have other tattoos small ones and they didnt bruise (my back, and both my ankles)any answers greatly appreciated,i dont want to flap and go back mithering to the studio. Many thanks
ANSWER
yes bruising is normal,
its the breakage of blood vessels and a cold compress might help any pain with it. dry better than wet because you’ll want to keep the tattoo clean, dry, and moisturized.
the second tattooist might have gone a little deeper with the ink. (hence it wont fade like the first one did)
Its very normal, esp considering you tattoo is relatively new and the area may have only just healed or still be healing. Just keep an eye on it and keep it clean, if it hasnt improved in a week or so head to the tattooist for an opinion.
